“Can Clinical Trials Be Made To Be More Patient Centric?”

One problem many clinical trials face, is recruiting and retaining their patients.

There are many companies that operate clinical trials. Along the way, they are learning common sense tips to gaining new patients and keeping patients. By doing so, these trials are making things more centered around patients.

Companies haven’t thought of many of these tips for their clinical trial because they are common sense rather than the more thought out and analyzed reasons and solutions.

For example, many companies do not realize that the clinical trial is not just about the patient, but it is about their caregivers and family as well.

Clinical Trials3 KEY POINTS

  1. Cost is one key to the patient and the clinical trial. Does the patient have to pay anything upfront, and if so, will the patient be reimbursed?
  2. How will the patients and caregivers react during the clinical trial? This doesn’t mean just physically but mentally and emotionally as well.
  3. Speaking with the nurses who help administer these clinical trials can bring a lot of insight into becoming patient-centric. Nurses spend the most time with the patients and could have the most valuable insights.

“Patient centricity is achieved not in isolation of the doctors and nurses who routinely care for the patients but rather in collaboration with them.”
